Jameson & Ginger
In anticipation of the upcoming St. Patrick's Day celebrations, we thought we would give you an Irish cocktail to impress your friends and enjoy over the weekend. Although not green in color, this cocktail uses Irish Whiskey and freshly muddled ginger to give you an elevated version of the classic 'Rye Ginger.'
What You'll Need:
- Simple Syrup (Click here for recipe)
- One lemon
- Ginger Root
- Jameson's Irish Whiskey
- Cutting Board
- Cocktail Shaker
- Shot Glass
Cut four to five rounds of ginger from the ginger root and slice those round in half. Then add them to your shaker cup.
Cut the lemon in half and then cut that half into four wedges. Add two to three wedges of the lemon to the shaker cup along with half an ounce of simple syrup.
Muddle these ingredient using your muddler, making sure you draw the juices and oils out of the lemon and ginger.
Add one scoop of ice to your shaker cup and pour two ounces of Jameson's Irish Whiskey over the ice.
Place the lid on your shaker cup and shake your cocktail until the outside of the cup is cold throughout, ensuring the ingredients are mixed and chilled from the ice.
Strain mixture into a rocks glass and serve with lemon rind. I prefer to serve this drink without ice, so it doesn't get watered down as the ice melts, but feel free to add some if you like your drinks really cold.
Sit back and enjoy sipping your delicious cocktail!
I think this tastes like the adult version of a lemon lifesaver, but I'd love to hear your thoughts! Will you be trying this elevated version of a Rye Ginger this weekend? Let us know what you think about this cocktail in the comments below and remember to Get Thirsty!
